Birthdate: April 2004

Future: Left in September 2006 to join a boarding home for Masaai girls. She has come back to visit and is doing well.

History: A friend of the director's, Tami Carter, works with a mission to the Maasai people. While out at one of the villages, Tami found Kate being cared for by her blind grandmother. Her parents are dead, and her grandmother was having a hard time being able to take care of an active baby. She was also not able to provide proper nutition for this little girl. Tami got permission from the proper village authorities and then brought her in to Cradle of Love a week later.

Kate is a "flopsy doll". She had very poor muscle tone, but it is slowly improving. At first she would just roll around the floor, but now she is crawling properly. She has a lovely coy smile and you can't help but give her a big hug.

The village want her to return to them in the future, and that is hard for us to think about as the Maasai practice female circumcision, as well as sell off their girls at a young age for a bride price of cows.

Please pray that Kate will have a good future, by God's grace.

UPDATES:

September 27, 2006: Kate left us to join a boarding home for Masaai girls, and is adapting nicely. She has lots of big "sisters" now who will spoil her!
