Birthdate: January 6, 2004

Future: Returned to family care. The dad and grandmother have brought him back for a visit and he is well.

History: Paul was a twin. He and his sister had been taken to another baby home in the area, when their mother died shortly after their birth. However, this particular home is very short staffed and cannot give extra attention to special needs infants. When the babies were 7 months old, Paul's sister contract malaria and pneumonia, and died. Someone who knew about Cradle of Love Baby Home, suggested to Paul's dad that he transfer the baby here.

Paul is a happy baby and has just recently learned to walk, of which he is very proud. We bought him a pair of shoes that have squeekers in them and he toddles all over the place, listening to his musical shoes. Paul's dad is a minister, and intends to take Paul back when he is two.

UPDATE: One morning, at the end of May 2005, Paul's dad came with Paul's maternal grandmother and two other women from their church.  He told us that the grandmother (Bibi, in Swahili) was going to take over the care of Paul. We asked lots of questions about his future care and when we were satisfied, Paul went off with them. He is an adaptable baby, and was not upset. They have promised to bring him back for a visit at the end of August.

Each baby that leaves, goes with an abundance of prayers on their behalf. Life in the village can be rough and we are thankful that God has assigned each person their own guardian angel!
