Birthdate: January 1, 2004
Future: Adopted by a British couple living in Mwanza, TZ, August 2004. We have seen Tia several times over the past couple of years and she is a super big girl! The family who has adopted her, have started a baby home as well. You may learn about that at: www.foreverangels.org
History: Tia was born in the hospital, but at some point her mother, who had given false contact information, left the hospital without her baby. When she came into the care of Davona Church she was very sick with severe diarrhea, vomiting, and life-threatening dehydration. Soon the only nourishment she was receiving came from a medicine dropper with a mixture of oral rehydration solution and rice water lovingly given by Davona. Her little eyes started to roll back into her head and many petitions to God were sent on her behalf. After four days of not knowing whether she would survive our prayers were answered. Tia is now the beautiful girl that you see in the photos.
There is a family in Tanzania that is waiting desperately to adopt Tia, and once her papers are in order she will be given into their care. We will miss the love that she brings to our home, and she will always hold a special place in our hearts.
UPDATES:
August 2004: Tia is now with her forever family! They are a British couple who live in Tanzania and have an adopted a son from this country as well. They came to spend a few days with us, giving Tia a chance to bond with them in the environment she was used to. They did wonderfully together and she went happily home with them. We hear that she is now crawling all over, trying to keep up with her 3 year old brother! She left the same day as Dante – how appropriate as they both arrived here together!
April 3, 2005: Tia and her family came to Arusha for Easter, and we got to see her again. She now weighs over 11 kg, is running around, and even says some words. Her mother, Amy, says that Tia likes all food – even raw onions! What a blessing to see this wonderfully healthy and loved girl – and we thought she wouldn't survive when we first got her! God is Good.
