More from Julie on the school

Sorry about the delay in posting this blog, but the internet has not been working and this is the first chance had.

Last week was my first full week teaching nursery school after spending several days in Zanzibar.  Rebecca and I had a wonderful time and we are both very grateful that Davona allowed us a couple extra days.  Originally we were only going to be in Zanzibar for 2 days (with 1 day travel)  When Davona heard that she insisted that we stay a little longer.  She said "you can't go to a tropical island paradise for 2 days, that's crazy.  Go ahead and take a couple of extra days."  We jumped at the chance and of course she was right.  Thank you, thank you, thank you Davona!  Our trip was perfect (except for a particular over crowded dala dala incident) it was great.
As you know Martini has moved in with his adoptive Mom Caroline.  I'm very excited for him, but also miss him very much.  That leaves only 5 children in class so I decided to fill his empty seat with Rahma.  I talked to Davona about this and she agreed.  Prior to my holiday several other volunteers and Mama Mussa had suggested that Rahma join the class.  She is definitely ready and has been an excellent addition to the class.  She is smart and catches on quickly.  There are only a couple of small issues that need to be handled.  Dorcas, Hope & Rahma behave like sisters and like to pinch, poke and prod each other.  I know that they also love each other like sisters, but this ill behavior does not go over well in class.  The other issue is that Rahma laughs when you put her in time out.  Actually she laughs the whole time and does not stay in time out unless I stay with her.  I'm not quite sure what I'm going to do.  Prince's behavior has improved and he has been doing quite well.  Rahma will adjust with time.  I have complete faith in her.

I’m happy to hear Prince’s behavior has improved. Now if Rahma would only follow his example. I’m glad to hear she’s laughing a lot though, it sounds like she is excited to be part of the class with the other kids!
