This morning I received this note from Brooke Montgomery who is an American adoption lawyer in Tanzania.

On August 16th I am forming a committee of 5 people to meet in Dar es
Salaam. We will choose a consultant/lobbyist and arrange a conference
for all interested persons (including politicians, judges, UNICEF,
social welfare, NGOS and children's centers as well as adoptive parents
etc. We will fund-raise aggressively because the consultant/lobbyist will
need to be paid a fee and the conference will be expensive. The goal
will be to lobby for this bill to be changed. Our consultant will draft
a new law and then lobby for it to be used in place of this terrible
one
.

I’m so glad you are doing this! The law makers seem to be forgetting that these are children and that they deserve to have a family even if it is one from outside Tanzania. I will pray that your lobbying works and that ALL children that need a forever family will be given the legal chance for the greatest probability of finding one.

This is a wonderful first step! Let me know if there is any research or what not you need from this end! This is my passion, so I’m more than happy to do it!
