What a fabulous, refreshing time our family had at Asha Cottages (www.ashacottages.com) on Diani Beach, the southern coast of Mombasa! I would recommend this family run place to anyone! It was almost like being at a spa, with all the personal attention you got, the gorgeous setting and facilities and great food.
Here are a couple of photos of our week.
Max and cohorts built a bamboo and water container catamaran. It floated and steered very well, but he couldn't grab the wind to "tack." Only went with the wind and then he had to push it back. Live and learn!
Got to spend time reading, cross stitching, taking beach walks and soaking up the sun.
The view from our room. Just beyond the palms is the gorgeous white sand and turquoise Indian Ocean.
Ladies selling brightly colored wraps and kikoy cloth just down from our place.
Staci and I with our funny sponge "hats".
My girls and husband enjoying the pool.
Elegantly served dinners each evening.
Home again, tanned and refreshed.
Came home to find a few babies sick, but on the road to recovery. We are just having far too much malaria and I cannot figure out why. We have screens, the babies have nets…. I wish they would bring the vaccine that they have come out with and vaccinate our babies.
Is there a new vaccine for malaria available in Tanzania now?
