Letter of Refferal

I must quote this referral letter to you so that you know what this country is going through and why there are so many orphans!
“Maria was born one month ago. Her mother, Jesca Abel, is HIV/AIDS, for her former husband died due to HIV/AIDS on December 9, 2003. After the death of the husband, Jesca was inherited by a brother of her former husband, and they managed to get Maria a month ago. The doctors examined the baby Maria and discovered that she was free from HIV/AIDS, hense advised the mother not to breastfeed the baby so that she many not contract HIV/AIDS.
The baby is using cow milk and is in good condition. The mother is sick and she can’t manage buying milk for the baby. The baby is a prospective orphan.
Maria is using milk of about $ 1.50 per day and it will cost the sick mother $ 547.00 per year. Some relatives are helping the mother of Maria to buy the milk. The man who inherited Jesca has a family of two children, and he contracted HIV/AIDS from Jesca, hence, he is going to die together with his wife and the two children will be left as orphans.
On behalf of Maria, I hereby bring a request for taking Maria and keeping her in your centre for the mother is not able to raise her up.”
It it incredible to believe that they still do wife inheritance in some places. And with this sexually transmitted disease ravaging the country, it is another way to spread it. In case you didn’t understand the English, baby Maria is a result of her mother’s being with her dead husbands, brother! (”they managed to get Maria a month ago”)
We will accept Maria into care on Friday, and hopefully she will be able to be adopted by a family who has the means and good family life, to raise her well.
