A Visit by the Pathfinders
June 18th, 2006 by Davona
I had visitors from Malaika Home, which is located in Arusha. They are new and are operating out of a rented house. Currently they have 6 children, and one is Samuel’s 3 year old sister. I suggested to the Canadian director, Pauline, that it might be good to have the two children in the same home, for the convenience of the relatives. This week we will transfer Samuel to their place.
Saturday morning I received a phone call from a Home in Usa River who only takes older children. She has a 6 month old girl, and asked if I would take her. Monday we will welcome her at CoL. That means we will still be at 25.
Saturday afternoon I was outside feeding the troop of resident monkeys some bread. Justin, our guard, brought over a young man who said he was the Pathfinder leader (SDA young people’s club) and he had 62 of them, plus their leaders, here to see the babies! The club members were all dressed in their uniforms and were very well behaved. Most of the babies were outdoors playing, so that made it easier. Then we took groups through the Home to see it. They had quite a few questions about the Home and the babies. It was a good exposure for them to see what is going on at CoL and understand the reason for the need for this Home. The group also brought a big bag with laundry detergent and bar soap in it. I thought that was very kind of them, because most of them come from low income families.
Thank you all who have told me that you read this “blog”. As you see, I have had Sarah Lee put up more photos. I see that I am still 4 babies short, so will try to correct that soon.
